Greyston Bakery Is Set to Install a Solar Array

Greyston Bakery, a US-based supplier of brownies and cakes, is set to install a solar array on the roof, in order to imrpove the bakery's environmental footprint and reduce its energy costs.

The $33,000 funding for the solar array has been provided by Green Mountain Energy Sun Club, the program initiated by Green Mountain - a retail provider of cleaner energy and carbon offset solutions in the US.

Green Mountain Energy Sun Club program manager Tony Napolillo said the company is pleased to bring solar energy and solar education to aid the Greyston Foundation in its objective to enhance the development of its community for future generations.

"We look forward to the installation of this project and the resulting benefits it will bring to the community Greyston serves," Napolillo added.

Greyston Bakery, founded in Riverdale, New York, offers ice cream mix-ins, brownies, cakes. Although it is a for-profit company, its profits go to its non-profit parent organization, the Greyston Foundation, where they are used on behalf of the local community.
