Ever-Evolving Technology Make It Possible to Use Your Work Computer to Access Appliance

Thanks to c,it's now possible to use your work computer to access your TV at home if you've forgotten to record your favourite programme,or even turn your oven on so it's pre-heated by the time you get home from a long day at the office.

Now,interiors experts are tweaking the latest LED lighting, combining it with wireless technology to ensure that, pretty soon, many homeowners will be adjusting their pedant ceiling lights or turning their bedside lamps on remotely.

Leading the way is Dutch electronics giant Philips, whose newly-unveiled Wi-Fi-enabled LED lighting system gives homeowners the chance to control the brightness, and even the colour of their home lighting, using a smartphone or tablet.

While the technology is very much in its infancy, with many people likely to be relying on old-fashioned timer switches for some time yet,the potential, industry experts say,is huge.

Indeed, alongside simply being able to turn your lights on and off,wirelessly-controlled systems could soon allow you to adjust the mood of your lighting remotely–ideal if you invite guests back to your house and want to set the mood in advance,or simply if you're having a bad day and want to return to a cosy, welcoming home.

In fact, according to the SmartPlanet website,Philips'designers are currently working on additional features such as geo-location services"which would sense your proximity to home and automatically turn on the lights or turn them off when you leave".

Moreover,if you're on holiday and concerned about burglars taking advantage of your absence, then you should soon be able to deter would-be criminals by turning your lights on and off at random times of the day–no matter where you are in the world.

Until such systems become more commonplace, however, most homeowners will stick to standard LED lighting, with Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux seemingly doing just this.

The A-listers were spotted visiting a Hollywood lighting store this week, with the celebrity gossip pages speculating that they are updating their Bel Air mansion ahead of their upcoming wedding.
