Briefly Launched Locally Paying Homage to The 1958-1968 Convertible of The Same Name

Briefly dabbling in the retro-cool craze, the limited edition Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet Floride has launched locally paying homage to the 1958-1968 convertible of the same name.

Renault Megane CC Floride Limited Edition Released From $44, 990

Priced from $44,990, the Floride will be available as a 50-unit limited edition in Australia, assuming a range-topping position in the Megane CC line-up with the $1000-cheaper Privilege simultaneously being dropped from the range.

The Megane CC Floride is available locally only in Ivory paint, with black pleated leather trim and ivory plastic inserts, but without the red plastics option available overseas.

The Megane CC Floride misses the 18-inch wheels (it gets 17s), bi-xenon headlights and electro-chromatic rear-view mirror of the old Privilege, though it does include satellite navigation with eight-speaker Arkamys audio.

All local Megane CC models including the Floride get only the 2.0-litre petrol engine and automatic continuously variable transmission, with 103kW of power and 195Nm of torque, not the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel offered elsewhere. All models claim an 11.7 second 0-100km/h and 8.1L/100km combined consumption.

As with all non-RS Renault models, the Megane CC gets five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.

Renault points to the original Renault Floride being made famous by screen icon Brigitte Bardot, embodying “the pure joy of summer days and nights in the idyllic French Riviera”. It adds that the new limited edition “pays homage to this era of charm, extravagance and beauty”.

The Renault Megane CC Floride is on-sale now.
