On December 20, Shanghai-based Chinese steel giant Baosteel announced that in the past three years its Xinjiang-based subsidiary Bayi Iron and Steel Co has supplied over 700,000 mt of finished steel for the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway.
Construction work on the project in question, which covers a total length of 1,473 kilometers, started in the spring of 2010. The high speed railway, 715 kilometers of which is located in the Xinjiang region, is expected to be completed in 2014.
Bayi Steel has mostly supplied finished steel for the construction of the part of the railway located in Xinjiang.
