AMD Has Launched a Series of Four Firepro Graphics Cards to Deliver Graphics Experiences

The new graphic cards are designed to balance compute and 3D workloads for computer-aided design, engineering and for media and entertainment professionals

Semiconductor firm AMD has launched a series of four FirePro graphics cards which claimed to deliver enhanced graphics experiences to the workstation market.

The new range of workstation graphics cards include: AMD FirePro W9000, W8000, W7000 and W5000, which are designed to balance compute and 3D workloads for computer-aided design, engineering and for media and entertainment (M&E) professionals.

The FirePro W9000, W8000, W7000 and W5000 GPUs are built on the AMD Graphics Core Next Architecture and feature dynamic power management that enables enhanced performance and efficient power usage.

In addition, the AMD FirePro cards also support PCI Express 3.0, AMD PowerTune and AMD ZeroCore Power technologies for dynamic power management.

Leveraging AMD Eyefinity technology, the new graphics cards support up to six, 30" independent displays via Multi-Stream Transport (MST) hubs for maximum workspace utilisation at ultra-high 4096x2160 resolutions.

The new FirePro workstation graphics cards will enable graphics professionals to create complex models and interact with them in real time, enhancing workflows and productivity.

AMD Graphics corporate vice president and general manager Matt Skynner said,"Certified for today's software applications, the new AMD FirePro workstation graphics cards bring a range of features and capabilities for professionals working in digital signage, broadcast graphics, CAD/CAE and M&E, delivering the ideal balance of power, performance and reliability at the right price point."

AMD FirePro W9000 workstation GPU delivers 1.95 billon triangles per second and up to 83% improved memory bandwidth than other applications through GCN and GeometryBoost. It also features enhanced memory bandwidth and multi-display support performance.

W9000 delivers 3.9936 TFLOPS of single precision and 998.4 GFLOP of double precision floating point performance, features a 384-bit memory interface and delivers 264 GB/s memory bandwidth, and can power up to six displays simultaneously from a single card.

W8000 workstation GPU features 806 GFLOPs of double precision and 3.23 TFLOPs single precision floating point performance, includes 4GB of high speed GDDR5 memory. It also features Error Correcting Code (ECC) memory support and offers dual-precision compute performance, up to 2.2 times as fast as the competing application.

The AMD FirePro W7000 workstation GPU features 2.4 TFLOPs single precision and 152 GFLOPs double precision floating point performance and delivers 4GB of high speed GDDR5 memory. It is up to five times as fast as the competing application in single-precision compute performance.

W5000 workstation GPU delivers 1.27 TFLOPs single precision and 80 GFLOPs double precision floating point performance and features 2GB of high speed GDDR5 memory.
