The Russia's Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks has issued a patent to Israel-based Oramed Pharmaceuticals related to methods and compositions for oral administration of proteins.
The patent titled "Methods and Compositions for Oral Administrations of Proteins" covers a core concept of the company's technology for the oral delivery of drugs currently delivered via injection.
New Zealand, South Africa and China have also issued patents for this oral delivery technology.
With this new patent, Oramed Pharmaceuticals' intellectual property portfolio now includes nine issued patents and 26 patents pending.
Established in 2006, Oramed Pharmaceuticals is involved in the field of oral delivery solutions for drugs and vaccines currently delivered through injection.
The company is currently advancing with clinical trials of ORMD-0801, an orally ingestible insulin capsule, for the treatment of Type 1 diabetes and ORMD-0901, an oral exenatide capsule.
