Cfia Has Expanded The Recall of Gills Onions Brand Products

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency(CFIA)has expanded the recall of Gills Onions brand products.Consumers have been asked not to consume these products as they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The initial recall was issued on 18 July,and the expanded recall includes additional codes.It includes Gills Onions brand Fresh Diced Red Onions,Fresh Diced Yellow Onions,products of USA,sold in 198g packages bearing a Best Before date up to and including 08/03/12.

These products may have been distributed nationally.There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

CFIA is working with Canadian importers,distributors,and retailers to recall the affected products from the marketplace.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled.Consumption of the contaminated food may cause listeriosis,a foodborne illness.
