The Exports of Woven Garments Registered a Growth of 13.81 Percent Year-on-Year

The exports of woven garments from Bangladesh registered a growth of 13.81 percent year-on-year to total US$ 8.09 billion, during the initial nine months of the current fiscal year that began on July 1, 2013.
 
During the same period, knitwear exports fetched US$ 7.58 billion for Bangladesh, up 8.44 percent over the same period of previous fiscal, according to the statistics released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
 
The exports of home textiles, however, declined by 10.14 percent year-on-year to US$ 580.27 million.
 
Bangladesh’s overall exports, including readymade garments, stood at US$ 19.7 billion during July-March 2012-13, showing a rise of 10.16 percent compared to total exports of US$ 17.88 billion made during the corresponding period of 2011-12.
 
For the current financial year, Bangladesh Government has set an export target of US$ 28 billion.
