India-based Parksons Packaging will be adding two additional Rapida 106 sheetfed offset presses manufactured by Koenig and Bauer (KBA) to their facilities to increase production capacity.
Apart from the two current orders, Parksons has also installed four other Rapidas presses in the past two years.
The company will be installing an eight-colour press and a seven-colour press, both of them with coater. While the first machine will be delivered by the turn of the year, the second will be installed in the first quarter of 2015.
The company which functions from three sites in India - Daman, Rudrapur and Pune - primarily produces packaging for food and beverages. However, it also manufactures packaging for pharmaceutical products and the electronic industry.
The eight-colour Rapida will be installed at the compnay's plant in Pantnagar where it will join the already operational six-colour Rapida 105 with coater and a six-colour Rapida 106 with twin coaters. The new Rapida 106 comprises board and film-handling kit and can be used for UV mixed operation.
The machine is equipped for packaging printing with automatic nonstop systems and pile logistics and the press will also be raised by 450mm (17.7in). The machine also comes with automatic plate changers, CleanTronic Multi combined blanket and impression cylinder. While the roller washing systems will help in ink changes, CleanTronic UV will increase the production capacity.
The machine also enables online monitoring and controlling of the print quality with ErgoTronic ColorDrive and ErgoTronic ACR. LogoTronic CIPLinkX helps in transferring essential preset data to the press.
The company will install the seven-colour press at its plant in Daman where a six-colour Rapida is already operational.
