LED Maker Lextar Has Reported First-Quarter 2012 Revenues of NT$2.194 Billion

LED maker Lextar has reported first-quarter 2012 revenues of NT$2.194 billion (US$74 million), showing a 9% sequential decrease but a 22% increase on year. The company reported a consolidated gross margin of 11.9% and consolidated net profits of NT$2 million despite its low season. Fewer working days caused first quarter revenues to show on-quarter decreases but Lextar was able to see overall increased profits due to the backlighting market recovering sooner than expected, added the company. Lextar reached a capacity utilization rate of over 70% during the first quarter, stated Lextar's chief financial officer BY Chang. With the second quarter being the busy season for LED lighting, the company estimates that its profits during that time might double and that its 2012 revenue will be five times greater than what it was in 2011, added Chang. Meanwhile, the company displayed new products at the recent Lighting+Building exhibition in Franfurt Germany, featuring 320 degree high CRI LED bulbs that have dimmable features which can be controlled via a smart system.
