McCormick has identified top seven flavors that it says are essential for popular recipes this holiday season.The flavors,termed Seasonal Seven,include cinnamon,nutmeg,poultry seasoning,ginger,sage,vanilla and peppermint.
The Seasonal Seven,which have been identified based on trend data,are at the heart of most holiday dishes,providing a variety of sweet and savory options,the company said.
McCormick Kitchens chef Mark Garcia said that these flavors are the essence of the most popular recipes for Thanksgiving dinner,weekend brunch,casual cocktail party and neighborhood cookie exchange.
The company noted that Sage can be used for Savory Herb Rub Roasted Turkey;cinnamon for Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Cinnamon Pecan Crunch;poultry seasoning for Orange-Glazed Turkey Meatballs;ginger for Gingered Orange Cranberry Sauce;nutmeg for Roasted Harvest Vegetables;vanilla extract for Vanilla Pecan Pie;and peppermint extract for Peppermint Bark.
