HJ Heinz has opened its new $70m infant cereal production plant in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, China, a move that will create 200 new jobs.
The new plant, which is the company's largest infant cereal production plant across the globe, features drum dryers, powder handling systems and packaging machinery from Andrtiz Gouda, GEA Group, and Bosch.
The advanced technologies and equipment used at the plant will improve production speed, while ensuring stringent quality controls.
According to the company, every product from the plant will undergo rigorous quality tests, from raw materials through semi-finished product to finished products, before being shipped to market.
Heinz China managing director Grace Chen said: "We have consistently lived our Heinz value of putting the consumer first, focusing on the development and innovation of infant nutrition ranging from infant formula and cereals to wet baby foods and noodles, to teething rusks, and nutritional snacks. We are committed to providing Chinese babies with the safest and highest quality foods."
The company has been offering infant cereals in China for the past 30 years. Its products include baby rice cereal and bottled baby food.
