According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first 10 months of the current year Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) exports amounted to 183,577 mt, increasing by 4.15 percent, while the revenue of these exports rose to $194,91 million, up 5.41 percent, both compared to the same period of 2012. Turkey's PPGI exports had totaled 202,032 metric tons in 2012.
In October this year, Turkey's PPGI exports decreased by 55.53 percent year on year to 8,022 metric tons, and were down 49.71 percent month on month. The revenue of these exports amounted to $8.96 million, down 53.12 percent year on year and decreasing by 46.32 percent month on month.
Despite the 4.15 percent year-on-year increase in Turkey's PPGI exports in the first 10 months of current year, a significant decrease was recorded in the PPGI export volume to Russia. In the given period, Turkey's PPGI exports to Russia decreased 21.95 percent to 80,904 mt, due to high inventory levels and weak demand in the Russian market. Meanwhile, in the same period Turkey's PPGI exports to Azerbaijan doubled to 17,026 metric tons, while Azerbaijan was Turkey's top PPGI export destination in October this year.
