More than 23 textile artists from nearly 14 countries participated in the just concluded International Contemporary Textile/Fiber Art Competition, an international contest, meant for young artists up to the age of 35 years, aimed at promoting modern textile art, in Italy.

The winning creation features fabrics, hung between two chairs, facing each other with mirrors on them.

The contest’s second prize was bagged by Italian artist Livia Ugolini and the third position was occupied by another designer from Taiwan Chen Ying-ting for her work titled 12 Different Collars on the Skin, which included 12 garments made from different fabrics.

Other than the competition’s top three winners, participants like Valerio Niccacci (Italy) for the work Scucimi, Wei-Jen Cheng (Taiwan) for Geology, Yana Drumeva (Bulgaria / Italy) for double identity and Aleksandra Janz (Poland) for Banner also received honourable mentions from the contest jury, comprised of Andrea Burned, Gina Morandini, Lydia Predominato, Francesca Agostinelli, Renata Pompas, Charles Vidoni and Navy Bastianello.

Organized by Le Arti Tessili Association, the contest’s entries have been put up on a display at Palazzo d’Attimis in Maniago until May 11, 2014.
