Mobile technology firm Audience has said that Apple may not use its technology for the latest iPhone, which is anticipated to be launched next week.
Audience provides chips for Apple's iPhones to filter out background noise to improve voice quality in mobile devices.
The company also supplies chips to Apple's contract manufacturers like Foxconn International and Protek.
Audience, which has been supplying chips to Apple since 2008, said that loss of Apple's contract will not impact its third-quarter results but would affect it a quarter after Apple begins selling its next-generation mobile phones.
Audience chief executive Peter Santos said:"While we are disappointed by this development, we are confident in the diversification of our business and see sustainable growth in 2012 and beyond."
Apple's licensing of the filtering technology accounted for 37% of Audience's total revenue for both the three and six months ended 30 June 2012.
Audience increased its third-quarter revenue outlook to between $35m and $38m, up from its previous forecast of between $33m and $36m.
The company anticipates net earnings of $0.11 to $0.15 per share and adjusted earnings of $0.14 and $0.18 per share.
