Mr. Garcia said that after the working meeting held between Argentina’s Minister of Agriculture Carlos Casamiquela, and Minister of Production and Environment of Formosa province, Raul Quintana, it was decided that 5 million pesos would be allocated to the province for promotion and development of cotton production, reports argentine newspaper El Comercial.

The undersecretary said the resources would be used to buy machines for planting and harvesting of cotton in the province during the forthcoming cotton campaign.

The fund received by Formosa would be put to use in order to strengthen the machinery and equipment availability for the cultivation of cotton in the province, he added.

According to Mr. Garcia, over the last six years, the province has 58 cotton pickers, 17 direct seeders and weeders, which are used by service providers for small and medium cotton producers in the province, in order to help them enhance cotton production.

The undersecretary said the allocation of 5 million pesos is very good news for cotton producers in Formosa, as it would aid them in purchasing the necessary machines and equipments to further cotton cultivation.
