Russia-based Severstal, one of the world’s leading steel and steel-related mining companies, has stated that it has secured a contract to supply automotive sheets to Renault-Nissan Alliance projects in Russia. The contract runs through from March to August 2013 and, now with 87 percent of market share, secures Severstal’s position as the leading supplier of automotive sheets to international automobile manufacturers’ operations in Russia. Automotive sheet shipments from Cherepovets Steel Mill will meet 79 percent of the Renault–Nissan Alliance’s demand in Russia. The Cherepovets Steel Mill, part of the Russian Steel division of Severstal, will supply car body sheets for Renault’s Moscow–based production, and the same products will be supplied to the Renault–Nissan Alliance’s industrial project.
Furthermore, this year the Cherepovets Steel Mill will work with the Renault–Nissan Alliance to develop steel grades new to Russian production and deliver trial products for.
In 2013 Severstal is going to continue development of two service centers near St. Petersburg (JV with Mitsui, JV with Gestamp) to supply stampings for the auto and machinery industries.
