Genesis Photonics Chairman, K. J. Chong recently pledged that his company will become number 1 supplier of LEDs and LED light engines in China. Chong noted in an article in Cens that his company, an LED epi-wafer maker, will help Taiwan’s LED-lighting manufacturers introduce high performance products light engines to compete with big players such as Philips, Osram, and General Electric. In Q4 of 2011, Genesis reportedly began supplying the light engines composed of an LED chip, phosphor coating, flip-chip substrate board, and a thermal substrate to LED-lighting manufacturers. Chong said the company has been awarded patents on the four elements of the engine, freeing users from threats of patent lawsuits. Chong indicated that with his company's universal light engines, lighting manufacturers can introduce their products quicker and at lower costs than their competitors. Chong pointed out that its LED light engines are less costly and less complicated in design than those Epistar has introduced. For this reason, Chong says lighting manufacturers’ product developments are more efficient when utilizing their light engines. The company has also opened an LED lighting venture to promote its branded lighting products for project and commercial purposes in Taiwan. In mainland China, it is working with several retailers to market its products. Chong indicated that Genesis Photonics will work with brand name luminaire manufacturers to become China's number one supplier of LED chipsets. Source: www.solidstatelighting.net
