Turkey's Iron and Steel Imports Totaled $1.54 Billion, Decreasing by 8.6 Percent YOY

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in November this year Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $1.54 billion, decreasing by 8.6 percent year on year and down 9.4 percent compared to October this year. Iron and steel ranked fourth among the most imported products of the country in the given month.

Meanwhile, in November Turkey's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 15th among the products with the highest import value, rose by 36.2 percent compared to November 2011 and were up 26.3 percent month on month, amounting to $253.3 million.

In the first 11 months of 2012, the country's iron and steel imports stood at $18.1 billion, decreasing by three percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011, while its imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $2.1 billion, down by 7.5 percent year on year.
