US-based automaker Ford has started the production of its new Kuga sport utility vehicle(SUV)at its Valencia facility in Spain,for deliveries in the European market.
The new SUV is offered with a choice of either 150PS or 180PS EcoBoost petrol engines as well as 140PS or 163PS 2.0L TDCi Duratorq diesel powertrains,which will be mated to the company's PowerShift transmission.
Features of the new Kuga include new global intelligent all-wheel drive system,hands-free tailgate,improved Torque Vectoring Control,in addition to EcoBoost petrol engine technology,which will be a debut for the European SUV market.
Security features of the new model include parallel parking aid active park assist and sensor-based Blind Spot Information System.
Ford is also planning to launch new EcoSport which will be a follow up for Kuga lineup in Europe.
The US carmaker is aiming to sell about one million SUVs in Europe in the coming six years with SUVs accounting for 10%of all its vehicles sold in the region through 2016.
