1. Philips Introduces LED BR30, Says 100w-Equivalent A21 to Ship Dec 1
Philips Lighting has announced a new LED BR30 that dims to a warm 2200K and an LED T8 retrofit tube with an external driver, and said that it will be first to market with the previously announced 100W-equivalent A-lamp.
2. Veeco Q3 2012 Financial Results Reduce by Lack of MBE & MOCVD Orders
Veeco's third quarter revenue was $127 million, and adjusted EBITA and non-GAAP earnings per share were $17 million and $0.34, in line with our guidance. Veeco generated $46 million in cash flow from operations, ending the quarter with $574 million in cash and short term investments." Third quarter LED & Solar revenues were $94 million: approximately $79 million in MOCVD and $15 million in MBE. Data Storage revenues were $33 million.
3. Cree Announces Larger LED Arrays with Broader Lumen Output Range
Cree has minimally participated in the market for larger LED arrays until now, but has changed that stance with the introduction of the CXA1507/12 and CXA2520/30 arrays that span the range from 500 lm to 5000 lm in output. The company is positioning the arrays as a quick way for solid-state lighting (SSL) manufacturers to get luminaires and retrofit lamps to market while still delivering products with good color quality and efficacy.
4. Philips LED-Product Sales Account for 24% of All Lighting Revenue
In the last quarter, LED-based sales at Philips were 24% of total lighting sales. Also, the company has published a paper with Cisco that discusses connected public LED lighting in cities.
5. IEA Launches Interlaboratory Comparison for SSL Product Testing
The IEA 4E SSL Annex hopes that interlaboratory testing could result in a robust and reliable global network of accredited test houses.
