Hayssen Flexible Systems, a company that designs and manufactures Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) baggers and Horizontal Form Fill Seal (HFFS) flow wrappers for the food packaging industry, has launched a new manufacturing value stream at its South Carolina factory.
This value stream will complement its existing UK and Italy sites and has been added to help the company meet the growing demand for its flow wrapper product portfolio.
With this new technology which makes use of lean manufacturing methodologies, the company will be able to double its capacity to manufacture flow wrapper.
Lean manufacturing or lean production is utilised to eliminate waste within a manufacturing process.
The company said that the move was a part of its "Point of Sale - Point of Manufacture" initiative, according to which the company works on the belief that customers value having their machine manufactured at and supported from a factory in their region.
Hayssen also recently acquired Italy-based producer of horizontal flow-wrapping machines Schib Packaging.
With the acquisition, Hayssen has been able to extend its range of packaging lines for bakery, candy, cutlery, pharmaceutical, produce, chocolate bars and automotive parts.
Hayseen also premiered a high speed packaging system integrating a Schib CO-90 candy wrapper with a Simionato Logic VFFS bagger at the ProSweets show last month.
Headquartered in Duncan, South Carolina, Hayssen and a member of the Barry-Wehmiller packaging automation group, Hayssen has manufacturing and technology centres in the US, the UK and Italy.
