The Production of New V60 Plug-in Hybrid Has Been Producted by Volvo Car

Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo Car has started the production of its new V60 plug-in hybrid, which is claimed to be the first diesel plug-in hybrid in the world.

Initially Volvo will build 1,000 plug-in hybrid units during 2013, which is expected to increase between 4,000 and 6,000 units in 2014.

The new V60 Plug-ins will be assembled on the same production line as the standard V60, V70, XC70, S80 and XC90 models at Volvo's Torslanda plant in Gothenburg.

Volvo V60 Plug-in will come with two complete drive-trains and a battery that provides a range of up to 32 miles on pure electric power.

Parts of the final assembly line have been rebuilt and modified to facilitate 300 extra parts for the plug-in hybrid.

The V60 plug-in hybrid will come equipped with a 2.4L diesel engine paired with an electric motor and will be backed by an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack to deliver an output of 285hp and 467 lb-ft of torque.
