Tire Rack Inc. compared four standard touring all-season tires in the third set of results released from its 19th annual tire testing season.
Tires tested were:
* Continental TrueContact (standard touring all-season, 215/60R16 95T);
* Firestone Precision Touring (standard touring all-season, P215/60R16 94T);
* Goodyear Assurance TripleTred All-Season (passenger all-season, P215/60R16 94T); and
* Michelin Defender (standard touring all-season, 215/60R16 95T).
According to Tire Rack, results conclude that all four tires in this test drove and performed well with Continental's latest standard touring all-season tire, the True Contact with EcoPlus Technology, providing an edge over the competition in fuel efficiency, plus both dry and wet traction.
The company says the comparison is especially designed to show that there is a selection of new standard replacement options available for consumers that can be much more than "basic," thanks to a growing number of new tire designs available for drivers in search of a long tread life, smooth ride and good traction in dry, wet and wintry weather.
