Motech Industries will form a strategic partnership Aide Solar Energy Technology

Crystalline silicon solar cell maker Motech Industries will form a strategic partnership with Jiangsu Aide Solar Energy Technology, a China-based subsidiary of Taiwan-based diode maker Pan Jit International, through a stock swap to take over the latter's 250MWp solar cell production capacity in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, eastern China, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

Aide Solar Energy is a solar cell and PV module maker, as well as a PV EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) contractor. Through the strategic partnership, Aide Solar Energy will give up solar cell production capacity to Motech and then focus its business operation on producing PV modules and undertaking EPC projects, the sources indicated.

With PV module production consisting of own-brand sales in the China market and shipments to Japan-based OEM clients currently, Aide Solar Energy will expand its annual PV module production capacity from 750MWp at present to 1.5GWp, the sources noted. In addition, Aide Solar Energy has been undertaking EPC projects of setting up PV systems and PV power-generating stations in Europe and Africa and expects to complete total installation capacity of 60MWp in 2015, the sources indicated.

With additional 250MWp from Aide Solar Energy, Motech's annual solar cell production capacity will increase to 3.25GWp, ranking second largest globally, the sources said.
