Polychim Launches New Thermoforming PP, Ha31xtf for Packaging Converters

French polypropylene (PP) producer Polychim has launched a new thermoforming PP, HA31XTF for packaging converters. The grade is aimed at clear PP and opaque thermoformed applications such as food packaging.

Drawing on the advantages of Milliken's nucleator Hyperform HPN-600ei, the new homopolymer PP grade helps to overcome the performance trade-offs associated with conventional nucleated homopolymers in thermoforming applications.

Compared to traditional nucleated homopolymers, HPN-600ei is expected to stimulate an improvement in the aesthetics of final parts, achieving better transparency and reduced yellowing for thermoformed goods.

According to Polychim, HA31XTF offers balanced physical properties, including favorable stiffness/impact balance and isotropic shrinkage behavior that avoids warpage.

The combination of Polychim's resin technology with the crystallization temperature and isotropic shrinkage behavior provided by the nucleator gives the possibility for thermoformers to improve productivity by up to 10%, while cutting down costs.

The package offers a new opportunity for the converters to achieve desired quality benefits and cost-efficient production based on faster production cycles.
