Sustainable packaging manufacturer Petainer has expanded its product range with the introduction of an enhanced PET solution for steel keg lines at BrauBeviale 2015.
The new improved petainerKeg Linestar offers all benefits of the classic, one-way PET keg petainerKeg , in addition to increased resilience throughout the supply chain, the company said.
This lightweight keg system comes with a robust external casing and can be run on most of the steel keg filling lines.
Petainer commercial director Annemieke Hartman-Jemmett said: "For brewers petainerKeg Linestar fits on most existing steel keg filling lines and is strong enough for robotic handling and palletisation.
"For on trade Linestar fits easily on existing dispensing equipment, and for distributers the product is easy to stack, store, and handle and with no keg returns required."
The beverages stored within a petainerKeg were found to taste as good as or better than that of steel kegs, during independent taste tests.
This is a result of an active oxygen scavenger ingredient that is incorporated within the PET material to keep the contents fresh by extending the shelf life.
"petainerKeg Linestar is set to revolutionise the draught beverage industry with a cost-effective product that can deliver business growth for our customers, and the needs of brand owners and consumers," added Hartman-Jemmett.
The petainerKeg Linestar will initially be available in a 30 liter format.
Based in the UK, Petainer operates modern production plants in Sweden and the Czech Republic, blowing facilities in Russia and Australia, as well as sales offices in Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany, the US and UK.
