Chinese automkaer Futian Automobile is planning to build a new utility vehicle assembly plant in Cameroon, west Central Africa.
About $500m will be invested in the construction of the new plant, which will be located at Kirbi that include a deep sea port and terminal for the Mbalam iron ore project.
The company will start rolling out about 5000 trucks and vans per year from the new utility vehicle plant from July 2013.
Initially the new plant will assemble the vehicles using imported parts and later the vehicles will be equipped with locally manufactured parts using mined iron ore.
China's Hanlong group is expected to take over the iron ore project, which is expected to cost about $1.4bn.
