Chesapeake Plans to Invest in New Digital Carton Production Equipment

Packaging products manufacturer Chesapeake has announced plans to invest in new digital carton production equipment, which is further expected to extend the company’s digital capability for label production.

Besides the new digital printing presses from HP Indigo and Landa, the company is also planning to install a digital finishing capability, enabling it to offer a fully integrated digital solution for the production of folding cartons.

Chesapeake technical services director Dougie Potter said the installation of the equipment, linked to new front-end order handling, over the next one year, will provide a solution for quick-response small-order quantities.

"It will also help to reduce product inventory and obsolescence," Potter added.

Chesapeake has also signed an agreement to invest in the latest digital carton cut-and-crease technology from Highcon, which removes the need to use a die for production by implementing new polymer and laser technologies.

The addition of the digital solution will complement the company's existing equipment and is also expected to offer improved flexibility to serve the existing and future needs of its customers.
