Firmer Upstream Product Prices Pushed BTX Prices Higher in The US

In the week ending October 13, firmer upstream product prices pushed BTX prices higher in the US. Benzene prices increased by 6% week-on-week in the last week.

In the same week, Toluene prices witnessed a hike of 2%, higher by around 10 cents/gallon as compared to its previous week levels. The price hike was supported by tight availability of the product in the market.

In the month of September, toluene prices increased by 1% and 2% respectively week-on-week basis in the first and second week, while it declined by 1% in the third week and remained unchanged in the last week of the same month.

Para-Xylene prices went up as well and were assessed in the range of US$ 1490-1505/ton FD US. Prices were affected by rise in P-Xylene prices in Asia.
