Chip One Stop Stop Selling White LED Products

Chip One Stop, a web-based electronics device marketing company in Japan, has reached an agreement with LED maker Nichia to stop selling white LED products manufactured by Taiwan-based LED packaging house Everlight Electronics over a patent dispute.

In response, Everlight indicated that as Chip One Stop is not a direct retailer for Everlight, the suspension will have limited impact on Everlight's business.

Nichia announced the filing of patent infringement lawsuits against Everlight on September 1, 2011. In response, Everlight on September 2 said that it had already won lawsuits in Taiwan invalidating Nichia's patents.

Everlight has been aggressively tapping the LED lighting market with the EVERLIGHT and Zenaro brands. Revenues from lighting are expected to reach 10% of the company's total sales in 2011 and 15% in 2012.
