Seeing the increasing demand of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) produced linen and tweed cloth in international markets, many global companies have come forward to form partnerships with the state government for supply of export quality products from the government-owned enterprise J&K Handloom Development Corporation, Srinagar, said the J&K Industry & Commerce minister Mr. S.S Slathia.
While inaugurating the 11th showroom of the state-owned Jammu and Kashmir Industries Ltd (JKIL) in Jammu, the minister spoke at length about the huge demand enjoyed by JKIL products in and outside the country.
He added that against 40,000 meters in the current fiscal, JKIL is going to achieve a record production target of about 175,000 meters of fabric in the next fiscal year 2013-14.
Formed in 1963, JKIL operates nearly sixteen tweed and silk manufacturing units across the state. J&K Handloom Development Corporation is engaged in the development and promotion of handlooms manufactured in J&K.
