US announces final anti-dumping,anti-subsidy verdict on China-based solar firms Nuying Huang,Taipei;Jackie Chang,DIGITIMES[Thursday 11 October 2012]The US Department of Commerce(DOC)announced its final verdict on the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation against China-based solar firms on October 10,2012.A tariff will be imposed on China-made solar cells,hence China-based solar firms will likely depend on procuring solar cells from Taiwan or other locations.
Compared to the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation and tariffs in the US,China-based solar firms fear the investigations in the EU more because they cover a wider range of solar products.
According to the announcement,any solar cells produced in China will be subject to the tariff,this includes Taiwan-based firms such as Motech and DelSolar that have set up manufacturing facilities in China.
Suntech will be imposed a 31.73%anti-dumping tax and a 14.78%anti-subsidy tax,a total tax of 46.51%.Trina Solar will be imposed a total tax of 34.29%.
