German in-car location and navigation products and services supplier Zurich selected TomTom telematics technology to power its Zurich Fleet Intelligence (ZFI) product.
ZFI, which is optimised for corporate fleets, combines vehicle telematics, reporting, driver development tools and risk engineering support.
With ZFI, customers can have on-line access to the Zurich risk management web portal where both drivers and fleet managers can track performance based on fleet management data.
TomTom's telematics technology is an integral part of the new product and will help companies improve driver safety and reduce operational costs, while minimising environmental impact.
In addition, the technology can also help fleet managers minimise insurance premiums by reducing accidents and the value of related claims.
Zurich Global Corporate Germany CEO Christoph Willi said Zurich is looking for new technologies like telematics that will change the future of motor insurance and risk management in particular.
"TomTom was therefore the obvious partner of choice for us because of the company's proven track record for leadership in Europe and its international reach," Willi said.
"We are especially impressed by the Active Driver Feedback component which empowers the driver to adopt a more responsible driving style."
