NVIDIA Has Released Tegra 4i, Its Fully Integrated 4G LTE Mobile Processor

Features 60 NVIDIA GPU cores and a quad-core CPU based on ARM Cortex-A9 r4 CPU with 2.3GHz frequency

NVIDIA has released Tegra 4i, its fully integrated 4G LTE mobile processor which claims to offer faster processing.

The processor has 60 NVIDIA GPU cores, a quad-core CPU based on ARM Cortex-A9 r4 CPU with 2.3GHz frequency, a fifth battery saver core; and a version of the NVIDIA i500 LTE modem.

NVIDIA Mobile business senior vice president, Phil Carmac,k said: "NVIDIA is delivering for the first time a single, integrated processor that powers all the major functions of a smartphone."

ARM processor division executive vice president and general manager, Tom Cronk, said that Tegra 4i is the SoC application based on the ARM Cortex-A9 processor and has the ability to push the performance of technology.

"ARM and NVIDIA worked closely to further optimize the Cortex-A9 processor to drive performance and efficiency in areas such as streaming and responsiveness."

Tegra 4i can be combined with the version of the NVIDIA i500 software-defined radio modem which provides LTE capabilities, while its camera capabilities include the NVIDIA Chimera Computational Photography Architecture and can be used for gaming and 1080p HD displays.

The company has also introduced a reference smartphone platform code-named "Phoenix" for the Tegra 4i processor which will act as a reference in designing and building future Tegra 4i smartphones.
