Tatung, a Taiwan-based own-brand machinery and consumer electronics maker, has extended business operation to PV-ESCO (photovoltaic-energy service company) and signed with New Taipei City to set up rooftop PV systems totaling 3MWp in 30 schools and buildings owned by the local government.
Tatung said it will rent rooftop space, set up the PV systems, and run and maintain them for 20 years, with revenues coming from selling electricity to state-run Taiwan Power Company. The PV systems are scheduled for completion and grid connection in September 2014, Tatung indicated.
This is the second time that Tatung has cooperated with New Taipei to set up rooftop PV systems, following a project to install 3MWp rooftop systems in 24 public schools in 2013, Tatung said.
The latest project will extend Tatung's cooperation with New Taipei to 6MWp in rooftop systems, which can generate six million kWh a year, equivalent to power consumption by 1,706 households and reduction in carbon emission by 3,780 metric tons a year, Tatung said.
