Siegwerk, a manufacturer of printing inks and solutions for packaging and labels, has agreed to acquire Netherland-based Van Son Liquids, a manufacturer of water-based flexo and gravure printing inks.
Under the terms of the deal, Van Son Liquids will transfer of all technical expertise, product portfolio and manufacturing equipment. Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
The acquisition is a part of the firm’s effort to expand its water-based ink business. It will also strengthen Siegwerk’s product and service portfolio for paper & board applications.
Siegwerk said it will continue operations at its production site in Hilversum.
Upon completion of the agreement, Van Son Liquids will be renamed into Siegwerk Hilversum while retaining the product brand name AquaBase+.

The Royal Dutch Ink Factories of Son will continue to manufacture and distribute offset inks under the brand name of Van Son.
