Price for 2X4 in USA Was Roughly 41% Higher Than Last Year's Level

The price established by the US information service Random Lengths for the benchmark grade of western SPF 2x4 #2&Btr KD for 18 May 2012 was roughly 41% higher than last year’s level at $308/1, 000 bdft and thereby reached a constructed ex works price level equivalent to roughly $130/m³. At a current exchange rate of roughly $1.26/€, although the constructed ex works price for central European shippers is in the region of €106/m³ again, owing to the average log prices applicable in central Europe and the recent increase in freight costs to the USA, central European manufacturers say cost-covering deliveries of this US assortment are not possible.
