Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are Brought by Avolites Media to Life

Event production and audio-visual specialists Anagram used an Avolites Ai Media Server to replicate the atmosphere of the underground sewer lair of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Part of the relaunch of the cult TV series, Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) invited over 350 guests to Shoreditch, London to announce their plans for a number of their well-known characters including: Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Anagram used the first ever eight-head Avolites Ai media server, combined with three HD10k Christie M series projectors, to project images of the well-known children's characters onto the walls of the stage in the Village Underground.

In addition, a feed was sent from the Ai to all the HD plasma screens within the room. The server's projection mapping capabilities enabled lighting programmer Russ Grubiak to control the entire system from his lighting console.

Peter Harding, managing director at Anagram commented: "The NVCP Turtles launch preview was a prestigious event for the team. Not only did we get to showcase our projection mapping skills on an international level, we're also proud to have first use of the state-of-the-art Avolites Ai media server. Plus working to create such an iconic childhood image was great fun, proving we're all kids at heart!"

The event was staged in a giant concrete sewer pipe and effects included a projection onto one of the venue's external walls. This enabled LA-based artist, David Flores to 'virtually' paint a 120sq.m mural of the Turtles.

Inside the venue, Anagram provided all AV support, sound system, lighting and video projection together with the concrete sewer pipe stage and pizza bar.

Selvin Cooper, Ai service and support engineer, Avolites Media added: "This was a great event to be involved in. Anagram used the video mapping capabilities of the Ai media server to great effect, recreating the look of the sewer lair across a large video canvas. The team took the various technical challenges in their stride and we look forward to collaborating with Anagram on future projects. Cowabunga dudes!"

Anagram delivered the NVCP Turtles launch in partnership with BJA Design.
