“We are thrilled about this transition and the change in the atmosphere on campus is palpable,” said Director of Student Services, Leah McNally. “Having such a large representation of our student body living on campus will enhance the overall experience of our students and expand their opportunities to get involved in the development of a strong university community.”

Both the male and female dorms have dormitory supervisors and student residence assistants who enforce the dorm rules and manage any issues that arise, including disciplinary or maintenance issues.

Additionally, each apartment comes fully furnished. Sleeping quarters include beds with mattresses, computer desks, closets for clothes and additional storage cupboards. Dorm common area rooms include sofa sets, dining tables and chairs. AUIS’ dorms also include a kitchenette, complete with a refrigerator, freezer, sink, and hot plate. Standard and economy rooms also offer microwaves. Furthermore, each apartment is provided with air conditioning and heating units, Internet capabilities, and satellite channels for students that bring televisions.

“It is very comfortable in our new AUIS dorm,” said AUIS student and dorm resident Salman Ahmed. “It’s like a 5 star hotel. Very high quality furniture, fast Internet connection, very close to our classrooms, nice views from the windows, etc. It can’t get better than this.”

It costs $180/month for a private room in the new dorm facilities, which includes single bed, study/living room, and bathroom. Other options include $105/month for standard housing, an apartment-style arrangement with two bedrooms, double occupancy (total four people) and $80/month for economy housing, which has three bedrooms, double occupancy (total six people).
