Activia Yogurt Brigade Recycling Fundraising Scheme Arrives at The 500,000 Milestone

TerraCycle has announced that the Activia Yogurt Brigade recycling fundraising scheme reached the 500,000 milestone.

Launched in the UK in September 2010, the scheme has been designed to save empty Danone Activia and Shape yogurt pots as well as Danone Actimel bottles from UK landfill and recycle them into new products.

The waste yogurt container packaging material will be used by TerraCycle to make recycled generic plastic products such as garden benches, watering cans or waste bins and upcycled pencil cases, shopping bags and notepads.

The programme offers consumers a way to recycle and upcycle their used Danone Activia, Shape and Actimel pots & bottles.

TerraCycle UK general manager Chris Baker said the Activia Yogurt Brigade is environmentally and socially beneficial and helps to teach both young children and adults the importance of recycling and reusing.

"We are delighted that Activia has extended the programme and its commitment to helping save as many yogurt containers from UK landfill as possible," Baker said.

Two points is earned for each product collected and sent back to TerraCycle, which can be redeemed for a two pence contribution to the school or charity of the collector's choice.
