ITC Limited, an India-based public conglomerate, has commenced the construction work on a milk processing plant in Munger, Bihar.
The company is investing around INR1.5bn ($27.33m) for the construction of the plant, which will be completed in an year, said the company.
The facility will have a capacity to process 200,000 liters of milk per day and produce 10 tons of ghee, 20 tons of milk powder and 20 tons of milk packed in pouches for domestic consumption, reported the moneycontrol.com.
ITC executive director Kurush Grant said that the company is planning to establish two food processing units in the state as it offers wide scope for expansion in food and dairy sector.
ITC is involved in various businesses such as cigarettes, hotels, paperboards, packaging and agri exports. The company also offers specialty papers, packaged foods & confectionery, information technology, branded apparel, personal care, stationery, safety matches and other FMCGproducts.
