First Full-Electric Car-Zoe Is Delivered by Renault in France

French carmaker Renault has delivered its first full-electric car ZOE to the French Minister of Industrial Recovery, Arnaud Montebourg in the home market.

The company is to deliver a small number of vehicles by the end of 2012 and start the mass launch of the vehicles by 2013.

The delivery is claimed by the company as a part of the French government's Plan Automobile which includes building a sector of clean and competitive vehicles with network of charging stations in France.

Renault chief operating officer Carlos Tavares said: "The first ZOE delivery is a vital step in Renault's electric vehicle offensive, aimed at making zero-emission mobility affordable for the greatest number."

The car is powered by a 22kW-hour lithium-ion battery pack with range of 62miles in cold weather, and 93miles in warm weather, the company claims.

The vehicle is equipped with an 87hp, 162lbft electric motor which uses the Chameleon charger that can charge at different outputs.
