EU New Car Registrations in October Rise 4.7 Percent

The latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) show that in January-October period of this year new car registrations totaled 10,006,807 units in the European Union (EU), with a decrease of 3.1 percent from the same period of 2012. In October this year, EU new car registrations increased by 4.7 percent year on year to 1,004,935 units, but were down by 13.30 percent compared to September.

In October, most major markets posted growth, from +34.4 percent in Spain to +4 percent in the UK, +2.6 percent in France and +2.3 percent Germany. In given month, Italy was the only major market which indicated a decrease (-5.6 percent) in its new car registrations.

In the first 10 months of this year, the UK (+10.2 percent) and Spain (+1.1 percent) were the only two major markets to record an increase. Decreases were witnessed in the other major markets, ranging from -8.0 percent in Italy to -7.4 percent in France and -5.2 percent in Germany.
