Trade Resources Industry Views Wool Growers in Australia Have Initiated a Campaign for AWI Levy Cut

Wool Growers in Australia Have Initiated a Campaign for AWI Levy Cut

Wool growers in Australia have initiated a campaign through social media for cutting down the levy paid to the Australian Wool Innovation (AWI).

At present, AWI collects a two percent levy from growers for its research and development as well as various wool marketing activities undertaken by it for Australian wool growers.

The Pastoralists and Graziers Association (PGA) of Western Australia said there is no clear data to substantiate AWI’s funding on activities to promote Australian wool.

It has recommended that the levy collected by AWI should be reduced to one percent.

Moreover, PGA said AWI should re-visit its business plan and raise its support for genuine research and development for the wool industry.
