US carmaker Ford Motors has unveiled the new Evos hybrid concept coupe featuring cloud technology at Computex 2012 event in China, marking its Asian debut.
The new coupe will be powered by a lithium-ion plug-in-hybrid powertraincomprising a 2.0 petrol engine and an electric motor, which will allow the model to offer a total range of about 500 miles.
According to the carmaker, new powertrain normally operates in all-electric mode before switching to charge-maintaining hybrid mode for continual enhanced fuel efficiency.
The cloud connectivity feature of the coupe would enhance performance and efficiency by allowing the user to choose the optimum combination of powertrain modes for any trip.
The cloud-optimised powertrain is claimed to save energy and switch modes through the coupe's projected travel route, any emission zone limitations during the trip and current weather situations.
Ford said that the car, using the information from the driver's cloud, will automatically adapt handling, steering and engine controls and enhance the driving experience.
