The Seasonally Adjusted Turnover Manufacturing Industry Increased by 2.3 Percent

In August this year, the seasonally and working-day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing industry increased by 2.3 percent compared to the previous month, according to the preliminary data reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The working day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing sector in August this year was down by just 0.3 percent compared to August 2012.

In the first eight months of the year, the working-day adjusted turnover in manufacturing was 1.6 percent below the level of the same period of the previous year, with domestic sales decreasing by three percent and foreign sales falling by 0.3 percent, year on year.

In August, the largest month-on-month turnover decrease in the German manufacturing sector was observed in the food and electronic products industries, each with a fall of 1.7 percent. In the motor vehicle segment, in the given month there was an 11.9 percent increase, with an 11.3 percent growth in domestic sales and a 12 percent increase in foreign sales, month on month.

In August, the turnover of German metal and metal product manufacturing increased by 0.5 percent as compared to July, with domestic sales falling by 0.2 percent, while foreign sales were up by 1.7 percent, month on month. In August, a growth of three percent was recorded in the turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with domestic sales rising 3.6 percent and foreign sales increasing by 2.2 percent, both compared to the previous month.
