Ribfest Chicago Celebrated Its 16th Birthday June 6-8

Planned Property Management Encourages Lakeview Barbecue Fans to Sink Their Teeth Into One of City's Best Food Fests

Think of it as a sweet-and-smoky 16 as Ribfest Chicago celebrated its 16th birthday June 6-8 in the Lakeview neighborhood with 16 barbecue rib vendors.

Ribfest Chicago began in 1999 as a community block party, but it has grown to bring together about 50,000 attendees and 50,000 pounds of pork each year. The event's reputation has grown with it, and the Chicago Reader named Ribfest Chicago the city's best food festival for the past two years.

"Nothing says summer like barbecue, and you won't find a finer selection of barbecued ribs than what is available at Ribfest Chicago," said Jasko Omervic of Planned Property Management, which owns and manages a number of rental properties in the Lakeview community, including 632-642 W. Addison. "Ribfest is one of the city's best summer events, and it always includes a great music lineup and plenty of activities for kids."

Ribfest Chicago ran from 5-10 p.m. on Friday, June 6, and from noon-10 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, between 4000 and 4186 N. Lincoln. A $5 suggested donation benefits the Northcenter Chamber of Commerce, which in turn supports a number of neighborhood initiatives.
