Turkey’s production of finished steel products totaled 2.8 million tons in January, falling by 7.7% year on year, according to statistics released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (DCUD). Among them, 865,000 tons were steel flat products, rising by 18.3%; 1.9 million tons were steel long products, decreasing by 16%, both compared to those in the same period of a year ago. In January, the country’s steel production consumption totaled 2.5 million tons, decreasing by 9.7% year on year. Among them, 1.2 million tons were steel long products, dropping by 20.9%; 1.25 million tons were steel flat products, rising by 4.7%, both compared to that in the same period of 2011.
