Plastic packaging solutions provider Alpla has agreed to acquire Italian firm Propack for an undisclosed sum.
Established in 2002 and based in Ostellato, Propack manufactures high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles for use in home-care applications.
Propack exclusively supplies bottles for the mother-company Biochimica, which produces detergent products.
The acquisition will add eighth plant to Alpla in the country, enabling to expand its production capacities in the North-East of Italy.
The deal is expected to complete in the middle of July this year.
Alpla CEO Günther Lehner said: “We are gaining access to a strong distribution network. Propack is a good strategic partner, which will help us to achieve our targets in Italy, where we are involved since 1985.”
This month, Alpla also acquired Gehl Foods’ bottle manufacturing facility located in the US state of Wisconsin.
Situated 30 miles north of Milwaukee, the West Bend standalone facility features around 100,000ft² and distributes six layer bottles to Gehl Foods for aseptic filling in the food and dairy category.
In February this year, Alpla agreed to acquire Romania-based PET performs manufacturer Star East Pet for an undisclosed sum.
Based in Brasov, Star East Pet is engaged in the production of PET preforms for drinks, food and non-food products.
With operations in around 43 countries, Alpla provides packaging solutions for brands in the food, beverage, cosmetics and cleaning industries.
